The son of Shivaji Maharaj-Sambhaji Maharaja Biography This hero of our country should not be forgotten what he did for us for that we should give him a salute. This man when he was born on 14 May 1657 after 2 years his mother passed away so his grandmother Jijabai (the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) took care of him. He was the eldest son of Shivaji Maharaj. He ruled for nine years and was succeeded by his brother Rajaram. Sambhaji's rule was largely shaped by the ongoing wars between the Maratha kingdom and Mughal Empire as well as other neighbouring powers such as the Siddis , Mysore and the Portuguese in Goa .
